School has started, therefore I am getting up at 6am Monday through Friday.

And I am freaking tired.

What's worse? When I get days off fom work during the week, I can't sleep in because I have to get up and make lunches, breakfasts, and write up the carb count of the day. Why yes, I am awake at 6am doing math.

I'm Sorry Will Never Be Enough.

This is my roughest day of the year. When I originally wrote this, many people commented, saying I didn't  need to apologize for something that really wasn't my fault. I know it wasn't "my" fault, but I still wanted to say I'm sorry simply because I know my sister never will. Our world was never the same, and our view of the Universe is forever viewed with an eye of mistrust.

Original Photo above found here.

This is the 10th year anniversary of 9/11. It's a pretty big deal, both in America and abroad. I remember watching the news that day. I had walked down to my in-laws place and thought they were watching a TV action movie, but they quickly told me no, a plane had crashed into one of the towers at WTC, then as we watched GMA, we actually SAW the second plane fly into the other tower! It was then we started to realize things would never be the same. I felt Junior kick me in the bladder, and wondered what kind of world I was going to bear my son into. It was so sad, seeing the scared, the worried, the hopeless jump out of the windows of the WTC rather than die a fiery death. We weren't alone though, the world denounced the terrorists and everyone who supported them. One of my most touching memories from that week was of the Buckingham Palace Royal Marching Band playing the Star Spangled Banner to support our grieving country.

Almost everyone in the US had a connection to those who perished that day and in the days following. I didn't know anyone personally. Then came the news. I was connected,.... in a serious, sinisterway....

I have never really told this story. Once it was told to me, I was sworn to not impart it to ANYONE. It was going to STAY a family secret, however Eldest had a report to do this year, and she joined journalism class, and OMG.... she was asking questions, so many many questions. So I spilled.

My older sister, in a money grubbing move, married an Egyptian National for $50,000 so he could get a green card and secretly establish himself as a base of operations on Florida's East coast for Al-Qaeda terrorists.

I haven't spoken, thought, or typed those words in 10 years.

My older sister could very well be responsible for aiding in the deaths of THOUSANDS of Americans!! OMG!! How does one reconcile with that?? I'm trying very hard not to bawl my eyes out typing this. Children died that day. Mothers and fathers died that day. Sisters, brothers, heroes.... all died that day, and my own flesh and blood helped those lousy bastards get a toe hold here in America to do this horrible thing. Her "husband" was later targeted by the US government(rather quickly) and my sister was put on notice she better get a lawyer. After that, I never spoke to her again. From what I gather, she wasn't sent to jail, but apparently a hefty fine & probation was levied for fraud in order to obtain a green card.

I explained this to my daughters and son on Tuesday, a catch in my throat, tears in my eyes. Eldest thought she had the story of a lifetime till I told her she wasn't allowed to write about it, but then I thought why keep the secret any longer?

So... I'm not. I am directly related to someone who helped the terrorists commit the most horrible atrocity out country, nay... THE WORLD has ever seen!

And I'm sorry. I know it's not my fault, and I didn't do it myself, but I'm so, so sorry.

Most Decidedly Not Wonderful

Back to school. All the memes say it's the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year", but is it really? Maybe if you have elementary school aged kids it's great.... more free time, the ability to get stuff done around the house or even the chance to get a part time job, but when you have middle & high school kids, the power shifts.

My kids went back today. I spent a huge amount of time getting them their bts diabetes stuff filled out and such. The clothes shopping took up a day or so. The supply shopping took even more time, but that's not all....

After the kids arrived home, we were then assaulted with the "extras". $20 for gym uniforms x 2 kids. $20 for a new scrub uniform for Mo's early child development class. $110 for a choral uniform. The club dues should start coming in next.

Lunch supplies, gas, time, energy.... it all adds up, and we as parents are supposed to shoulder this every year. Our wallets are hemorrhaging money, and the feeling is most decidedly NOT wonderful.

What is your dollar total per kid this year? I'm already into mine for at least $500 each so far!

No Good Deed.....

See that?

That is a hinkey piece of work, right there. Let me fill you in....

Yesterday I had to work from 11:30am to 7:30pm. Closing shift.  HHH & I had been shopping the day before, but we shop in 2 parts: Bulk shopping where we get large quantities of meats, breads, etc... and I part it all out into usable  portions and freeze it, and small quantity shopping, where we hit up Wall to Wall Mart, Tar-jay, and Aldi for the smaller stuff and non freezable things like eggs, milk, sugar, etc..... We did the Bulk run, but still had to do the small run. HHH worked till 6pm and the kids were lazy, so I offered to get dinner on my way home.

While trying to decide what to get, I saw a post from HHH on FB that said he wanted alcohol and Krispy Kreme. I commented about where we kept the alcohol, and I planned to bring him Krispy Kreme as a surprise.

I had dinner procured and I drove to the local KK. I was in drive thru and ordered 2 dozen. I got to the window and handed the girl my card. She slid it through the register, and said it didn't go through. She explained her card reader wasn't operating correctly and then hand punched in the number. She said it didn't go through again and tried one last time. Nope. I have instant banking so I got on my phone and pulled up my account.

It said I had $0.00!!

I was fuming. Who drew money out of my account? Apparently Krispy Kreme did.

As illustrated above, they DID charge me for my order. That's the $18.28 charge. The next one for $12.96?? I have NO IDEA why that's there. It got reversed, but then instantly recharged. WTF??

The manager said "It's ok. This has happened several times and by midnight it will reverse. Here's your order for free. We are sorry to have troubled you."

Uh... no, dude. Those doughnuts aren't free. THEY COST ME $31.00!!!!!!

So now I have to go back to the store, show them a print out of my account, and show where I haven't gotten my $12.96 back, because that's all they really owe me since I insist on paying for the 2 dozen doughnuts I drove away with.

No good deed goes unpunished, eh?

UPDATE: Took my print out to the Krispy Kreme store and the manager refunded me my $12.96 in cash. He even remembered I wanted to buy the doughnuts for HHH. I did not see the girl who "helped" me last night, so I'm thinking she may have been running a scam. Either or, next time I'll go with cash.

48 +

I have 48 hours till I find out if my foot has healed from the 5th metatarsal break I got 6 weeks ago.

Why do we say "I got a break in my bone?" It's not like you can return that shit!

Almost getting killed not once, but twice last week has me looking at my surroundings more carefully. I'd like to see 44.

It looks like my coworkers have chilled out. Last 2 weeks they've been trying to blame me for shortcomings that belonged to us all. I don't play that shit.

Yeah..... it was all like that. Lucky for me, I can hold my own and the bosses see that.

I really want my damn foot to be better NOW!

Seriously, 43?

  • Yesterday was my birthday.
  • Yesterday I almost died.
  • Aside from all the FB wishes, there wasn't a bright spot at all.
  • That's all I'm gonna say about that.Move along.

#11-The Second Coming!

So, today is our actual anniversary. 11 years ago today I said I Do, even though we had already been together 5 years before that. Even though we already celebrated last weekend, and we were both at work I wanted to mark the day with a little bit of something.... So 2 days ago, I came up with this......

A pretty good idea, if I do say so myself! Happy 11 baby! I love you!

It's no secret 11 figures heavily into our family. HHH wore it when he played football. I wore it for roller derby. Mo wore 5.5 (eleven divided by 2) when she played derby. It has always hung around, so it's no surprise that our 11th wedding anniversary would be important.

HHH had this little surprise waiting for me when we got to the room in Port Orleans: French Quarter. Beautiful flowers, a box of chocolates that was made of  chocolate, and a photo from Mickey and Minnie. It smelled heavenly!

On Saturday, we hit up Animal kingdom. The Dinosaur ride almost re-broke my foot THROUGH the boot I was wearing! Seems Disney really souped up that ride!

After that ride, we decided to put off Kali River Rapids so my boot wouldn't get wet. I had gotten Tramadol from my ortho on Friday, so after one of those and a glass of sangria, I was a-ok! We hit up our other fast pass of the Safari ride and went back to the hotel to shower. (It is 90+ degrees in Florida this time of year!)

We then hit up Epcot because we had reservations for dinner at Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion. It was an amazing meal, as always with the only detractor being we had a poor waiter serving us. He couldn't remember squat of our order, wine selection,.... nothing.

So after all that, we spent some time at the Magic Kingdom on Sunday. It was off to Downtown Disney after that and then back home. All in all, a great weekend!

I love you honey!! 11 (16) down, a bajillion more to go!!

Tater Tots!

My bosses are back from their week long jaunt to Hawaii. It's good that they are back because the animals were getting out of hand. Almost every single one of the animals are rescued, so they have baggage. Sometimes that baggage includes anxiety about being left alone for good. Mystery was returned twice from the shelter that adopted her out. To this day, if we have to put her in the cat carrier to go to the vet, she becomes so scared she'll be "returned" she pees and poops herself before we even get out the door! Sport will start to freak out if his schedule is even marginally disrupted. He had his bath on Friday instead of Tuesday last week, and he was a nervous wreck all week.

Long story short, 5 minutes before Boss Lady was going to walk in the door.....

Yes, Marshmallow Fluff peed on the bed. She has been angry all week. I had to bust my ass to get the bed stripped, pee cleaned up, bed remade, and then rush out to help Boss Lady unload her 25 bags from the car service. On my broken foot. While tripping on my boot! Add coworker #2 freaking out and I was done with this day at 10am.

Only bright spot was when I picked up Bluebell and Sport from their grooming.

Bluebell took a selfie with me at a stoplight.

Well, tomorrow is another day.... hopefully a better day!

Paint almost done. Need to print a Stark Industries logo to cover the ortho thing, and then paint the straps. It's a bum job at best, but hey.... I like it!

Thursday, May 28, 2015

I am 42 years old. I once roller skated well enough that I could do single jumps, spins, and artistic stuff. In my 30's I took up roller derby and accomplished amazing feats of skill! Now I run races for myself and for charity. All of that uses balance. I stay upright and on both feet. I can skate backward, forward, sideways, and in loops! I can cut and juke. I can run with 7 dogs all leashed up, AND pick up their excrement.

I can also totally disregard the last step on the staircase at our temporary apartment building, try to walk on air, and break my left foot.

Yeah. I broke my foot at 6am Tuesday morning. Wasn't sure if I had broken it at that time, so I went to work. I arrived at the conclusion that I broke my foot as I exited my car and felt a pain that was foreign to me. I worked 11 hours yesterday before I was able to get to the ER. I completed my job. I only stopped to elevate my foot and ice it after I completed a block of work. Of course my work babies were worried. Sport is very fond of our runs.

I was pleasant. I was polite. NO ONE WOULD HELP ME! The ortho the ER referred me too didn't have an opening for 10+ days. I started calling around for another ortho. NO ONE WOULD HELP ME! My insurance company's website was woefully, WOEFULLY out of date, even though they had a big, flashing UPDATED next to the ledger. 3 out of 5 offices I called said they didn't work with my insurance anymore. The ONE office I found that did said I just had to get a referral from my PCP. OK, no biggie..... except it was.

So now I was trying to find a new PCP so I could get a referral for the ortho. NO ONE WOULD HELP ME! All the offices I called trying to find a new PCP had no openings for 3 weeks. THREE WEEKS! Finally, dejected and broken, I called my insurance company for the fourth time and while crying, begged the woman on the other end to help me. I don't know if it was the abject defeat in my voice, of the anger, but she put me on hold and called around till she found a PCP that would see me immediately. I was so relieved!.

I don't know if anyone else has gone through this, but lemme tell you, our healthcare system in still in a shambles. NOTHING was fixed with this "O-Care" mess. So now I get a cast tomorrow then in 6 to 8 weeks, I am back training for the Avenger's Half.

Oh, and btw... my broken foot that the first receptionist said was ok to walk around on for 10+ days? NOW LOOKS LIKE THIS AFTER ONLY 3 DAYS!!!!

Ok to walk around on it , MY ASS!

Monday, May 25, 2015

It was a good day, except for the drunk ass women who began stripping as soon as they started imbibing. I could have done without that!
