I started training to run races again. I need to drop about 20lbs, get a little more limber, and work on my endurance. The next race I have is a 10 miler, and it will be at night. I have been training during the mornings, and here in Florida, that is a hot, humid endeavor. And by hot I mean, "OMG! This is hot. This is like Africa hot. Tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot!" (Bonus points if you know the movie that line comes from.)
This is also the longest race I will have run so far. 10 miles is 7 miles farther than my last Disney race, which was a 5K. I've been extending my route weekly. Last week it was the 3 mile route. This week I'm doing the 4 mile route. By the end of next week, I hope to be doing 2 laps of the 4 mile route. In the heat. In the humidity.
Glutton for punishment. That's me.
Oh and another fun thing? I'm trying to make a cosplay running outfit. I figure Ursula is a good one for me. Finding the curly organza ribbon to make tentacles is nigh on impossible. I want to try and make a similar tutu to this one, but less fancy and with LED battery powered purple lights outlining the tentacles. (The race is at night after all.)
And another another fun thing?? I ran into a spider web while running last Tuesday. I was proud of myself for not freaking out in a semi-twerking fashion, but now I have a big red spider bite on my nose. How much fun is THAT?!?
So, for now, I'm a running machine, you know.... when I'm not working!
