Squirrel Shenanigans

We have all met Mr. Chippy, yes?

They are a cute bunch. I started feeding them Cheez-Its in an effort to keep them from getting in to the attics in search of food. Now they are in the habit of knocking on the front door when they're hungry. Yesterday I didn't have any Cheez-its. All I had was Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies.

Apparently that wasn't a problem.

So now that I have given a squirrel a cookie, I'm waiting for him to ask me for a glass of milk!

Let Them Eat Cake!

Made a birthday cake for a dear friend's grandson. He's turning 2! The photo is from the dry run of putting it together. The pineapple will get fondant fronds coming out of the top of it tomorrow after it gets transported to the party site! Everything is edible too, with the exception of some straws & toothpicks that were needed for structural support. This turned out pretty good. I made it in one day.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

I DO!!!

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Auditorium

Today I was a chaperon, but then what else is new?

Mo had her FOAs today(Florida Orchestra Assessments) . For all my high school folks, that's the equivalent to the FBAs (Florida Bandmaster's Assessments.) I was going with Mo because the school fruits out about my kids' diabetes, but also I wanted to help out. Back when I was in high school my mom was a designated chaperon and I looked at this as my world coming full circle. When I was at the school, I was helping corral kids, hem uniform pants, and I transported some equipment. It was trippy how I was flashing back to my band geek youth.

The kids did well. On a scale of I to V, they got a II. That's an Excellent. After performing, we went to Cici's pizza for a lunch. That was "fun". Oh dear LORD, I was reliving my OHS Band days! Man I must be old!!

So I guess I'll be doing that till the kids graduate. It was fun. I imagine I'll be doing more and more, but that's ok with me. Band Geek.... pass the torch!

Miss Me?

Yeah. I know you didn't, but we had a blast this past weekend celebrating the midgets' birthdays!

On Saturday we got to Blizzard Beach early. There wasn't anyone there yet and as we waited we chatted with the Cast Members who were getting the park ready for the day. As we were talking another cast member came up and asked us if we'd stand in for their mascot alligator. (He had the sniffles!) So we went in the park early and were surprised with a medal & pins proclaiming us as Honorary Citizens of Walt Disney World! Then we were led to a premium Chalet in a great location with plenty of chairs and a picnic table. We also had towels for all of us as well. Then we got a tour of the park with all the improvements they made during the refurbishment! Finally we rode the Ski lift to the top of Mount Gushmore and HHH & Junior opened up the park by getting the first slide down Summit Plummet!

We had a great day!

Sunday was spent at the Magic Kingdom. I had been chomping at the bit to see the new Parade Disney has begun doing, The Festival of Fantasy Parade! I even had HHH make one of our Fast Passes be for this parade so we could have unobstructed, front & center viewing! These are just some of the photos I got. I didn't have my good camera, just my phone, but the costumes & music were wonderful. The White Rabbit even gave me a smooch!

The Raven & Faceless stilt walkers were extremely cool.

The floats were beautiful.

And Mickey and Minnie were flying high!

But my favorite was the Steam Punk Maleficent Dragon. It was BEAUTIFUL! It breathed FIRE!! I want this as my next car!!!

All in all it was a very good weekend!Any weekend with my family is a good weekend.

3 Days.

What do you get when your son comes to you after a leisurely week on Spring Break and hands you a sheet of paper that has a science project that is due in 3 days on it? Oh, and you find out you son has had this assignment sheet for the last 4 weeks and didn't tell you?

You get a pissed off mom who takes away ALL your electronic devices and MAKES you help her find household items to brainstorm a 3D model of an animal cell with all the accompanying parts!(A stipulation of the project is you have to use household items to keep parents from going out & buying a model at local hobby shops.) And in one afternoon you get your project done so you can turn it in 2 days early for extra credit!

Check out the results of a Mom on a mission & a son who wants his electronics back!

I had an idea while running Wednesday morning. It just kind of popped in my head as I was cursing the uphill stretch I ambled through.

I can't wait to do it. I'll post more when it's done!

UPDATE: It has been raining heavily since 9am so I didn't get to do my project, what with the tornado warnings, lightning, etc.... I'll go for it tomorrow.
